Special Events and Co-sponsored Programs

Rec-Expo – Instead of being told how awesome campus rec is, come and experience it!  This event takes place during Transition Week for incoming freshman.  Students will have the chance to play a variety of lawn games, go swimming, or take a boat out on Keuka Lake, and stuff their faces with fun foods.  There’s an info and registration table for anyone who wants to start sign up for any of our services or programs.

Rec-Fest – This is an all-out day of fun and takes place at the beginning of the fall semester.  With tons of games and challenges, including our annual Kan-Jam Tournament, students can use the day to meet new friends and have a great time on the campus lawn.  If it gets too hot, students can take their chances on a slip n’ slide, take a dip in the lake, or hit the water in a kayak or canoe!

Throwback Night – If you miss childhood games like four-square, freeze tag, kickball, and the like, then this event is for you.  There’s plenty of food, games, prizes, and old-school music to keep you entertained for hours.

Ladies Night – Need a girls night out?  This is a late-night event with plenty of games and activities specifically designed for the women of Keuka.

5K Turkey Trot Run/Walk – A themed 5K race to help you burn a few more calories before packing it on at Thanksgiving!  Participants will hit the finish line at Keuka’s waterfront, where they can hang out by the bonfire, drink some apple cider or hot cocoa, and scarf down a few snacks.  Free event t-shirts are distributed to participants.

Humans vs Zombies – Can you survive Keuka’s zombie apocalypse? Humans vs. Zombies is a game of tag. All players begin as humans, and one is randomly chosen to be the “Original Zombie,” who tags human players and turns them into zombies. Zombies must tag and “eat a human” every 48 hours or they starve to death and are out of the game.

Zombie Run – Feel like taking a quiet, calming jog around campus?  Too bad, quiet and calm are not an option!  Run through our course and avoid being eaten by zombies!

Team Handball – We play 6-on-6 with goalies in this fast-paced, action-packed, European-style team handball tournament.

Cosmic Mini-Golf - With cosmic mini-golf, we bring the fun right to campus!  And this isn’t your regular game of mini-golf.  We’ll down the lights and turn up the music for as many games as you want to play through this glow-in-the-dark course.

Shively Cup Boating Races – Put on your war paint and take to the seas.  A long running tradition at Keuka, the Shively Cup features class (freshman, sophomore,  junior, senior) competition in a series of kayak, canoe, and war canoe races.  This event is held the Saturday of Family Weekend.

Family Dodgeball Night – Held on the Friday of Family Weekend, this is an opportunity to spend some quality time with your family…by throwing things at them!  We’ll turn up the music and play a variety of dodgeball style games for a fun and active night out.

Video Game Tournaments – In the past, intramurals has offered various video game tournaments on the Wii, X-Box 360, and Playstation 3.  If you’re a gamer, then be sure to let us know your favorite game and we’ll work together to make it happen!

Ultimate Frisbee – Ultimate is an exciting non-contact team sport played by thousands all over the world.  A blend of the best features of soccer, football, and basketball, ultimate is a fascinating and addicting game. It is simple, which means it’s easy and fun for newcomers to pick up.

Avengers: Battle for Keuka – Are you worthy to be an Avenger?  Test your might at Keuka’s one-of-a-kind team battle, where you and five of your friends participate in this dodgeball, capture-the-flag, and nerf hybrid game.  One of the most fun and unique events of the year.

Lawn Games  - The Office of Campus Recreation co-sponsors a variety of tournaments and events that feature our extensive collection of lawn games.  We maintain equipment for wiffleball, kickball, Kan-Jam, frisbee, ladder golf, horseshoes, Spike Ball, bocce ball, softball, volleyball, badminton, croquet, cricket, and much more!
